Staff Picks: Fall Cocktails

 

It’s that time again! As the temperatures drop and the days grow shorter, there's no better way to embrace the autumn vibes than by savoring a delightful fall cocktail. We reached out to some of our Hibner team and asked them to share their favorite drink to welcome the season.

 

Cranberry Orange Whiskey Sour

  • 1 oz. Unsweetened cranberry juice

  • 3 oz. Freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 2 oz. Leipers fork whiskey

  • ½ oz. Cointreau

  • ½ oz. Freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • ½ oz. Simple syrup

  • 2 Sprigs thyme

  • 2 oz. Ginger beer

INSTRUCTIONS: Add all ingredients except ginger beer to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds and strain into chilled glass. Top off with ginger beer and garnish with orange peel and fresh thyme.

Classic Old Fashioned

  • 1-2 tsp. Simple syrup

  • 3 Dashes Angostura bitters

  • 2 oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon

  • Orange peel/twist

  • 1 Maraschino cherry

INSTRUCTIONS: Combine simple syrup and 3 dashes Angostura bitters. Fill glass halfway with ice, then stir about a dozen times. Add enough ice to fill glass. Squeeze 1 half dollar-size slice orange peel, including pith, over glass to extract oils, add peel to glass, then add 2 oz. good-quality bourbon. Stir just until drink is cold and the bite has softened. Garnish with 1 maraschino cherry.

Pomegranate Margarita

  • 3 tbsp. Kosher salt

  • 3 oz. Casamigos Reposado Tequila

  • 2 oz. Fresh lime juice

  • 1 oz. Cointreau

  • 1 oz. Pomegranate juice

  • 1/2 oz. Agave syrup

  • Pomegranate seeds, orange wedge for serving

INSTRUCTIONS: Cut a notch in a lime wedge, then run the lime around the rim of a glass. Dip the edge of the rim into a plate of salt. Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and fill it with ice. Shake until cold. Strain the margarita into the glass with the salted rim. Fill the glass with ice, garnish with pomegranate seeds and an orange wedge or lime wedge.

RECIPE VIA A Couple Cooks

Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini

  • 2 tsp pumpkin puree

  • 1/8 tsp pumpkin pie spice

  • 1 oz. vodka

  • 1 1/2 oz. kahlua

  • 1 1/2 oz. hot espresso

  • 1 1/2 oz. creamer of choice

INSTRUCTIONS: Add ingredients to cocktail shaker. Add all ingredients to your cocktail shaker, making sure to add the hot espresso last so the ice doesn’t melt immediately. Seal the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 15-30 seconds. Strain into a glass (chilled if you’d like) and enjoy!

Cosmopolitan

  • 2 oz. Vodka

  • 1/2 oz. Cointreau

  • 3/4 oz. Unsweetened cranberry juice

  • Splash of agave syrup

  • 1/4-1/2 oz. Fresh lime juice

  • Orange peel/twist

  • Ice

INSTRUCTIONS: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice then add vodka, cointreau, cranberry juice, agave, and lime juice. Shake the cocktail shaker for about 30 seconds until well chilled. Then, strain into a martini glass. Garnish with orange peel/twist. For an extra burst of flavor, peel the orange twist over the filled cocktail glass. This way, the orange oils spray into the glass.

RECIPE VIA Inspired Taste

Tequila Espresso Martini

  • 1 oz. Espresso

  • 2 oz. Reposado tequila

  • 1/2 oz. Kahlua

  • 1/2-1 oz. Simple Syrup

  • Ice

INSTRUCTIONS: Brew a shot of espresso and add it to a cocktail shaker or a large mason jar along with the tequila, Kahlua, and simple syrup or maple syrup. Add a large handful of ice and close with a lid. Shake the cocktail vigorously for 5-10 seconds until very cold and foamy. Strain the drink into a martini or coupe glass and enjoy!

Autumn Spritz

  • 1 oz. Aperol

  • 3 oz. Sparkling water

  • 1 oz. Red sweet vermouth

  • 1 oz. Rye whiskey

  • Prosecco

  • Orange slice, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS: Fill a large, stemmed glass with ice. Add all ingredients, and then stir well. Garnish with lemon, lime, or orange slices. Cheers!
