How Little Tokyo is Shaping Wakaba LA

BEHIND THE DESIGN

We’re taking a beat away from residential to go behind the curtain of our 'sister' company, Hibner Design’s creative process. Our commercial project in progress, Wakaba LA, will be deeply inspired by its surroundings in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles—a neighborhood rich in cultural heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and vibrant social energy. The design will reflect this essence through woven textures, warm wood tones, intricate patterns, and parasol-inspired lighting, creating a space that feels both rooted and contemporary.

The inspiration was just too stunning not to share. From cozy built-in seating reminiscent of communal dining to tactile materials that will add depth and warmth, Wakaba’s aesthetic aims to be a testament to how place and tradition can shape thoughtful, immersive design.
