Design Board Reveal: Jenny Chandler’s Art Studio
Over the summer we had the opportunity to design a powder room for Jenny Chandler, an established Los Angeles based artist at her new art studio in LA’s famous La Cienega Design Quarter.
The main gallery space is clean, white and modern to best showcase her large scale, vibrant abstract paintings. In the powder room Jenny wanted something dark and feminine with touches of the bright colors reminiscent of her paintings.
We started with specific inspiration images of what she wanted to recreate. She had a vision in mind for this space, which is an amazing way to begin any new project.

The final look is classic eclectic with an artist’s edge.
Sourcing the right wallpaper was a key component to the design because it was going to be the star of the room covering the top half of all the walls and the ceiling. We finally found this stunning Phillip Jeffries vinyl that had all the attributes we were looking for.
We also wanted to bring in a classic black and white checkered floor but with a more modern feel. We opted for a mid century spin with this terrazzo tile by Ann Sacks. It was the perfect masculine balance to the feminine floral wallpaper.
For the wall tile, we wanted a classic black and white sub tile but elevated. Using a matte 2x8 ceramic tile by Riad, we proposed a half tile wall with a tile bordered edge to meet the wallpaper above. To add in more feminine curved lines we selected an organic shaped vanity mirror and blown glass iridescent surface mount light fixtures from Anthropologie. We finished the room by painting the interior door and trim in Sherwin Williams Black Magic.
We are so happy with this space and we can not wait to share the after photos with you soon!
