Design Crush: FLACK STUDIO

Meet Flack Studio, a wildly creative, multidisciplinary practice of designers and architects led by founder David Flack. This renowned Australia based studio specializes in experiential residential, hospitality, commercial and retail projects.

Grounded in an adventurous sensibility Flack Studio embraces historical research and contemporary innovation. Making their work personable, definitive, and a touch of daring.

Flack’s deep-seated understanding of the built environment in combination with a love and respect for travel, art and culture allows for a design approach few are able to integrate into their work; that the spaces where we live our lives have the potential to not only provide shelter, but can create and hold our own identity within it.

Curious and inquisitive, Flack Studio develops meaningful relationships with their clients.

This is the essence of creating a collaborative, emotion centered result, where the design vision meets the tradespeople and craftspeople and artists who together build a very singular interiors.

“Our work is who we are.”

“Ours is a language accented with emotion designed to articulate confidence, clarity and above all – personality.”

Materiality has become the hallmark of Flack Studio’s signature look since it’s inception in 2015. Believing that textural complexity creates compelling tensions, Flack’s use of hard surfaces – marble, stone, custom-made aggregates – and immaculate joinery create structural backdrops upon which furniture by historical masters and contemporary creatives add up to that beautiful paradox: timeless interiors.

“Ours is a language accented with emotion designed to articulate confidence, clarity and above all – personality. This includes exploring different textures, finishes, and unique materials to add depth and character to the designed spaces.”

Make sure to check out more of Flack Studio’s work, including homes throughout Melbourne, restaurants in New South Wales, and the much-anticipated Ace Hotel in Sydney, which opened in May of 2022.
